Western Mountaineering Expedition Down Booties

Keeping your feet warm plays an important role in maintaining a comfortable temperature throughout the rest of your body. Cold weather camping can be fun if you are warm, but it can also be a miserable experience for those who are unprepared. One of the best ways to maintain comfort in cold weather is to insure that your feet always stay warm and dry. Our lightweight compressible down booties will provide all the warmth and comfort to keep you smiling long after the temperatures drop. Down booties are made for the outdoors, but they are also perfect for anyone with poor circulation or cold feet and it is not surprising that many people wear them at home.

Our Expedition booties add an extra measure of protection against the elements for more severe winter conditions. The Gore Windstopper fabric extends well above the insulation providing full-gaiter protection against the elements. Other features like the additional foam insulation in the heel make this bootie a perfect choice for winter camping or expeditions.

Favourite piece of camp clothing

After a long day in ski boots there’s nothing better than putting my feet into these warm dry booties. They are perfect for keeping lower legs warm around camp and at night. I say lower legs because on me they come right up to just below the knee so keeping that whole area out of the wind and so warm. They grip really well on snow and the high cut of them means that you don’t have to worry about sinking down into a drift. The elastic heel retainer works well to keep them in place on your foot whether you are wearing thick socks or not and the insole insulation worked so well that I could stand on bare ice in them for ages without feeling anything at all.

The only improvement I would make is that when I’m kneeling down at the stoves, the toggle at the front on top of the booties digs into my knee so I just had to remember to rotate that to the side before kneeling. The toggle would be better placed at the back for me, but this might not be a problem on taller folks.
